Slow Bakery

Documentary for Slow Bakery

17.08.2022

The Slow Bakery was created by Rafael Brito, that make some fine bread in Rio de Janeiro, focused on the best quality possible in the ingredients and in the making process.

At Slow Bakery, Rafael Brito and his team put their dedication into making bread as all bread should be. Founded in 2016, the artisanal bakery started little by little, growing together with the baker's learning, and along with a community of customers.

And this is a documentary project, telling a piece of this story that was born in a moment of Slow Bakery expansion to other streets of the Rio de Janeiro city.

So it took  some days in Rio, listening to the history of Slow's foundation and values, we did the interviews and shoots of the processes of bread making and the city .

These kind of projects give us the best experiences, from living the atmosphere of the environments and calmly observing the processes to capturing History in a semi-structured interview with an open script. After many experiments in the recording process, it is in the editing that the project is finally decided.

Anyway, I can say that we learned something about bakery, the food production chain, and mainly, we met Rafael, who taught us a lot.

We have learned to truly consider that every time we make consumer choices, we are financing  other people projects. And this perception makes all the difference, are we funding models that value the worker? who care about the land and product quality? What kind of bussines we are growing in our society?
